Color Scheme

In a magazine the overall look grabs the readers attention. The color scheme may appeal to some individuals more than others. For my magazine I would like to have neutral colors with a pop of color. for example, nudes and maybe a pink or red.

Preliminary Task!

Conducting the preliminary task, consist of deciding the whole of the magazine. Choosing the layout how things will look and overall creating the look of your magazine. It helps to put all your ideas into paper. I want everything to be bold and stand out , creating a theme that would look aesthetically pleasing while also holding amazing content.

Survey Analysis

What I have analyzed about surveys in particular, is that you can easily get feedback on how individuals view and feel about certain topics by just getting them to answer a few questions. This survey can now help me in steering into the right direction that will better appeal to my targeted audience. I now have a clearer picture as to where to take my magazine in order for it to be successful.

What can be concluded from Surveys and how can it help improve?

Surveys allow for individuals to conduct their opinion freely. It also helps to conduct statistics and help in improving any piece of work. Surveys allow for me to appeal to the audience and figure out their likes and dislikes. With the results I can now move my magazine in the direction in which it will be successful. As I await for responses ,I will conduct further research.

Feature Article Examples

The feature article in magazine, is the main story that may focus on a special event, place or person. They are considered newsworthy and are a great way to engage the reader. They are designed to target a certain audience and want to get a distinct point across. Feature articles may highlight celebrities, new hot spots and world wide topics.

Contents Page

In every magazine, there's a table of contents. The contents page is a guide as to what the magazine holds. It details any information and explains the content of the magazine. It can be broken down by the title, columns in which detail page numbers and the subheadings of each article and, also editor information. I've chosen to have an overall main image as the background and have subheadings of the articles broken down into two columns.

The story behind ..

The idea of wanting to create a magazine that embraces body positivity and diversity among individuals and communities stems on having the idea that everyone is equal and deserves to be loved as well as have the same opportunities as everyone else. Not many magazines highlight those of a darker complexion or curvier body type and I believe they deserve to be on the same pedestal as everyone else. Everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way, who is someone to say that one individual deserves more spotlight than others.

Masthead

While conducting my research, I've come across the definition of a masthead. A masthead is the title of a newspaper or magazine at the head of the front or editorial page. I want my masthead to be unique and bold. Also, the masthead as well as the title of the magazine has to draw attention in order for an individual to actually pick up the magazine and want to read it.

When creating a magazine for the very first time there are many terms and definitions you have to learn. A run down of everything a magazine consist of. To the reader it's just a pretty picture with words scattered but to the creator it is so much more. Here are some of the words I've discovered along the way ..

Masthead: Title block for the magazine 

Main Image: The main feature, " the star of the show"

Strap line: A description of the magazine, the selling line

Pug: Usually at the top left and it's known as the ears of the magazine.

Tag: A phrase that draws the reader in 

Cover line: essential articles inside the magazine

Left third: main feature article , the core part of the magazine

Bar code: allows the individual to purchase the magazine

How To Make the Magazine Happen

To create this magazine, I will do the following:

- have this blog in order to track the process and have it as a behind the scenes.
- include a cover page, table of contents and a two page spread.
- use local girls as a models and take my own images.
- have a group of less than three individuals in order to bounce off of each other's ideas as well as put together certain concepts and ideas. 

Choosing a Magazine Genre

I want my overall focus to be on embracing body positivity, cultural diversity, the LGTBQ community and many more.
